Beastie Boys - The Mix Up

Label: Capitol
Release Date: June 26, 2007
Genre: Alternative, Rap, Hip-Hop
Discs: 1

I first saw this album after it came out at a Starbuck's. It is purely instrumental with no words. Cicero found out that the Beastie Boys do in fact play the instruments that are featured in the album.

The tracks play one after the other fairly well; some of them are a bit more soothing than the others, but I find that this music is excellent to relax to, as well as do work at the office with it playing in the background. Some of my personal favorite tracks are, but in no special order: Freaky Hijiki, Electric Worm, and The Melee.

7.4/10 - I think they deserve more than the 60 that Metacritic scored based off of other critics' reviews. This album is original and completely different from what the Beastie Boys have produced in the past. Even though it deviates from the music most of us are used to, the bottom line is The Mix-Up is still quality music.
